Today’s Parola del Giorno is a very hated word that no one ever likes, so I apologize in advance — la bolletta. This noun means: bill(s) — you know, the kind that you receive in the mail when you owe money! Let’s look at the word used below in its context:

Non ho ancora pagato la bolletta del telefono dello scorso bimestre! Spero che non mi stacchino il telefono!

I still haven’t paid the telephone bill from the last two months! I hope they don’t disconnect the phone!

or, you might hear an Italian says this (and you might be inclined to agree if you’ve ever been to an Italian post office!):

Oddio, ho dimenticato di pagare la bolletta del gas. Comunque, non รจ colpa mia. Non mi piace fare la file all’ufficio postale. Odio quel posto con tutto il mio cuore!

My god, I forgot to pay the gas bill. However, it’s not my fault. I don’t like to stand in line at the post office. I hate that place with all my heart!
