Today’s Parola del Giorno is the noun expression, un brutto segno, which means a bad sign.  See the expression used below in its context:

Sono giorni che non ho notizie da Lucia e questa cosa non mi piace. Non vorrei che fosse un brutto segno – spero davvero non sia successo nulla!

It has been days since I have heard from Lucia, and I don’t like this. I wouldn’t want it to be a bad sign — I really hope that nothing has happened!
