Today’s Parola del Giorno is the expression, non tutte le ciambelle riescono col buco, which translates as (you) win some, (you) lose some (literally: not all ciambelle come with the hole).  See the expression used below in its context:

Ieri ho confezionato 22 bomboniere da solo ma alcune non sono venute benissimo. D’altronde non tutte le ciambelle riescono col buco.

Yesterday I wrapped 22 wedding favors by myself but some didn’t come out well. Anyway you win some, you lose some.
