voltare pagina

Today’s Parola del Giorno is the verb expression, voltare pagina, which means to turn the page or to turn over a new leaf. This expression can be used literally (turning the page when you read a book/newspaper), but it is also commonly used figuratively to describe starting something new in one’s life:

Marcello mi ha detto di essere pronto a voltare pagina e lasciare l’Italia per la Scozia.

Marcello told me he is ready to turn over a new leaf and leave Italy for Scotland.
