Today’s Parola del Giorno is the adjective, severo, which means strict or stern.  See the adjective used below in its context:

Il professor Rossi è molto severo con i suoi alunni. Non tollera che siano distratti durante le lezioni e assegna anche molti compiti per casa.

Professor Rossi is very strict with his pupils. He does not tolerate their distractions during lessons and also assigns a lot of homework.
