Today’s Parola del Giorno is the verb, sfuggire, which can mean to slip one’s mind.  It usually refers to forgetting an idea or concept — in our example below, Giovanni completely forget the fact that he was supposed to buy milk.  Notice how it is used in the context below:

Annamaria: Hai comprato il latte?

Giovanni: Oh diamine! Mi è completamente sfuggito!! Lo comprerò dopo.

Annamaria: Did you buy the milk?

Giovanni:  Oh darn!  It completely slipped my mind!! I will buy it later.
