prendere un appuntamento

Today’s Parola del Giorno is the verb expression, prendere un appuntamento, which means to make an appointment.  Two other useful expressions to know: rispettare un appuntamento (to keep an appointment) and mancare un appuntament (to break an appointment).  With all of the expressions above, avere is used in compound tenses. See the example used in its context below:

Ieri ho preso un appuntamento con il medico, ma oggi mi sento meglio di ieri. Penso di non rispettare il mio appuntamento.

I made an appointment with the doctor, but today I feel better than yesterday. I think that I don’t have to keep my appointment.
