avere la pelle d’oca
Buon Anno a tutti!! Happy New Year everyone!
It has been a long year at Parola del Giorno! I want to thank everyone for their patience while Daniele and I work on our doctorates. It is a lot of work for the both of us, and it has been hard to maintain the site. We promise to do a better job in 2018! I am currently working on a couple of papers because I am presenting at conferences, so I know I anticipate that 2018 will be super busy for me again as I spend hours doing research. I am going to do my hardest to keep the site update a couple of times a week and hope to find more “free time” this year to devote to the site.
We are going to end the year and start the new one with a series of animal expressions!
Today’s Parola del Giorno is the expression avere la pelle d’oca, which means to have goosebumps. The expression literally means to have goose skin.
See the expression used below:
Quando guardo un film dell’orrore e sento quella musica di suspense, ho la pelle d’oca perché è ovvio che qualcosa di orribile sta per accadere!
When I watch a horror film and hear the suspenseful music, I have goosebumps because it is obvious something horrible is about to happen!
