spalancare

Our paperback, Il vero italiano: Your Guide To Speaking “Real” Italianis now available for purchase from Lulu.com, only $11.99!

Today’s Parola del Giorno is the verb, spalcanare, which means to fling or to throw open. See the verb used below in its context:

Quando d’inverno spalancavo le finestre di casa, mia nonna mi rimproverava dicendomi: “Chiudi le finestre, è freddo! Dove vivi, al Colosseo?”

When during the winter I used to fling open the windows, my grandmother would scold me, saying to me: “Close the windows, it’s cold out! Where do you live, in the Colosseum?”

News & Updates:

: Thank you for all the great comments and emails on the release of our paperback. A lot of you asked when it would be available on B&N or Amazon.com. It takes a couple of weeks, I think, for the book to be officially listed. I have no control over this process, but it is in the works as we speak. The retail price of the book will be a bit higher since the calculations are slightly different (about $14.99). It is cheaper on Lulu.com because I can reduce the profit margin and offer discounts.

: Do you use Goodreads? Our book is listed there, and we have begun our first giveaway! Check it out here! Please note that the first giveaway is open to United States residents only. We’ll do some subsequent giveaways in the coming weeks to other parts of the world, too!
