il tavolino

October’s “Il Bollettino” is now ready: you can get it from the iBook Store (with audio), Google Play and Selz (pdf only)! Each month we will add more and more content to our Bollettino to help you with your Italian language goals!

Today’s Parola del Giorno is the noun, il tavolino, which means end tablesmall table, or a coffee table. It is a small table that you might put in a living room or a bedroom next to a chair or your bed so that you can put your alarm clock, magazines, or a lamp.

Nel salotto ho deciso di mettere un tavolino davanti al divano, così ci posso appoggiare i giornali e il tablet quando la sera mi rilasso davanti alla TV.

I decided to put a coffee table in front of the couch in the living room so I can put the newspapers and the tablet down when I am relaxing in front of the TV in the evening.

News & Notes:

: Ciao a tutti! Just a reminder about the PdG app for iOS — it is not working after the release of Apple’s new operating system. An update will take place, but I can’t devote any time to it until after I graduate (in January), so I will have to wait until then. I apologize for this. I didn’t expect this to happen. As soon as I can, I will push through an update as well as continue work on the Android app.

: We have two new books coming out soon!

The first will be a companion to “Il vero italiano” which will feature a book of exercises to help practice some of the grammar presented in the book. We hope to release it in the coming weeks in the iBook Store for your iPad and Mac, Google Play (as a downloadable pdf), Selz (as a downloadable pdf), and in print for sale on (and possibly on Amazon and other online retailers). There will be an answer key with explanations as well as presentations on some important grammar topics in Italian. This book of exercises will also help you learn and use the words and phrases presented in the book, too. We think that this will be a great companion to the book and help practice and use Italian!

The second is a guide to using the subjunctive (il congiuntivo) in Italian! This will feature an explanation on why the subjunctive is important, how to use it, and when to use it! We hope to release it just before Christmas for the iPad/Mac, for the iPhone as an EPUB, Google Play (PDF), via our store on Selz (as a PDF), as well as in print via Lulu.
