sbuffare

Today’s Parola del Giorno is the intransitive verb sbuffare, which means to fume or to grumble, like when you are upset. Also, think about the Three Little Pigs and the wolf who would huff and puff and blow their house down: it can also be used to mean to puff. The past participle is sbuffato; note that avere is used in compound tenses. See the verb used below:

Quando non mi va di fare una cosa, comincio a sbuffare fino a che mi spazientisco. So che è una brutta abitudine e devo smettere di comportarmi così.

When I don’t feel like doing something, I start to grumble until I get impatient. I know it is a bad habit and have to stop behaving like this.
