Today’s Parola del Giorno is the intransitive verb appartenere (a + qualcosa/qualcuno), which means to belong (to + something), such as being the property someone. It can also mean mean to be a member (of something), such as a club or organization. The past participle is appartenuto; essere is used in compound tenses. The verb is irregular and is conjugated like tenere. See the verb used below in its context:
