i vincisgrassi

Today, we move from Naples and the region of Campania to Le Marche! The voice of Parola del Giorno, Daniele Laudadio, is from Le Marche. This week I asked him to choose some words that can help us learn more about his region, and he selected some interesting words and wrote some great examples to help me profile this wonderful region of Italy.

Today’s Parola del Giorno is the noun i vincisgrassi, a regional dish that resembles a lasagna. The name derives from the original name for the recipe, princisgras. The original name is based on the words grasso (fat or rich) and principe (prince) indicating that it was traditionally a dish prepared for very special occasions! See the word used below:

Se ti trovi nelle Marche, devi assolutamente provare i vincisgrassi, che sono la versione locale della lasagna. Sono fatti con parti interne del pollo che danno al piatto un sapore unico! Buonissimi!

If you are in Le Marche, you absolutely have to try vincisgrassi, which is the local version of lasagna. It is made with the internal organs of the chicken that give the dish a unique flavor! Very good!
