piovere come Dio la manda

Last week’s theme focused on hot weather! This week’s theme will focus on unpleasant weather and how we can describe it. I hope that you enjoy the expression and words we selected this week. Just a reminder that PdG will be on Tuesday through Saturday schedule for the summer.

Do you like our new theme? I received some suggestions to make a more mobile friendly template. I figured after almost five years with the old one, it was time to try something new. I am going to tinker and tweek the site over the coming days and weeks so apologies if for some minutes during the day the site is down or looks “funny.”

Today’s Parola del Giorno is the expression piovere come Dio la manda, which means it’s raining cats and dogs or it’s raining buckets. It literally means to rain like God is sending it. See the expression used below in its context:

Domani meglio che non andiamo al mare, secondo le previsioni meteo, pioverà come Dio la manda, dovremo rimandare.

Tomorrow it is better if we don’t go to the beach because, according to the weather report, it will be raining buckets so we should postpone it.
