Ciao a tutti! Last week we focused on words and expressions related to man (and woman’s) best friend: the dog (il cane). This week we’re going to focus on another beloved four-legged creature: the cat (il gatto).

Today’s Parola del Giorno is the verb miagolare, which means to meow. Cats meow for a variety of reasons, but its sound is distinctive! See the verb used below:

Sandro dice di capire quando il suo gatto miagola perché ha fame, perché ha sete o perché vuole uscire. Non so proprio come faccia a distinguere quei suoni!

Sandro says he understand when his cat meows because it is hungry, is thirsty or because it wants to go outside. I really don’t know he can distinguish those sounds!
