darsela a gambe

Today’s Parola del Giorno is the pronominal verb darsela a gambe, which means to cut and run or to take to one’s heels. This is something one might do to get away from someone/something dangerous or an uncomfortable and impossible situation.

See the expression used below:

The prowlers who tried to steal my grandmother’s purse didn’t take my Rottweiler into account. When the dog started to follow them, they took to their heels so quickly it seemed they were flying!
